Multi-District Industry Club (MDIC)
The Multi-District Industry Club (MDIC) is an Erie Together initiative connecting a cohort of senior high students with employers to expose them to different industries, occupations, and real-time job opportunities. This program is designed as an educational experience that provides students with exposure to local employers, career pathways and opportunities for learning outside the traditional classroom.
Through the MDIC students will take part in the following activities:
A Full-Day Career Pathways Session, with several employer panels and employability skills activities
Several Employer Worksite Tours
Up to Three Job Shadows
A Work-Based Learning Experience (20 hours)
MDIC members are not considered employees of Erie Together or the companies at which they do their job shadows or work-based learning experience and will not perform work in exchange for wages or compensation. Instead, they will receive an educational award based on completion of MDIC program requirements to recognize their participation and learning.
The 2026/27 student application can be found here.
Applications are due by September 14, 2026.
Through the MDIC, students don’t just hear about careers - they experience them. They connect with employers, step into workplaces, and start to see what their future could look like. At the 2025/26 year-end celebration, students told us they feel:
More confident walking into new environments
Stronger in their communication skills
More prepared to ask questions and engage in the workplace
More clear in their next steps
That’s exactly what we aim to do through the MDIC - build confidence, expand access, and help students move forward with purpose. For more information, contact Jennifer Pontzer, director of Erie Together’s Career Street program, at jpontzer@careerstreeterie.org.
“During my time in this program, I met some wonderfully kind, and interesting people...and I experienced things I’ve never known. The impact that MDIC can make is great...”
“...If I had any doubts about what I wanted to do, I don’t think I do anymore...”
“I especially liked all the places that we went. I loved the panels and how we were given a chance to ask questions to help us learn... I loved the bonding that we did and how close we got!”
