It's been a big couple of weeks!

Several Erie Together initiatives have been featured locally and regionally over the last couple of weeks, so we thought we’d write a blog and capture the moment!

During September, with our partners Gannon University and U.S. Senator Pat Toomey’s office, we executed our fifth Annual Youth Civic Engagement Symposium in a completely virtual environment. It was an exceptional event! Although things looked really different from years past, we produced a great resource for young people to better understand government, community, and the opportunities they have to get involved and make a difference! The lineup of public officials who participated was off the charts, and the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation and Community Access Media made our videotaped panels and live Zoom session possible. Also in September, our work through the Erie County Career Pathways Alliance was featured on a Prepared4PA regional best practice panel coordinated by the PA State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). We then updated our countywide Action Teams on this, and our other projects’ progress at a Zoom meeting on 10/15. Click here to access the presentation!

Finally, in early October we were fortunate to participate in a press conference hosted by SafeNet to update the community on the progress of the Domestic Violence Action Alliance. This cross-sector stakeholder group, facilitated by Erie Together, is developing a countywide domestic violence reduction strategy. Such important work. Here’s a link to the Erie Times-News article to learn more.

Through Erie Together, our community continues to work together to address top regional priorities, and for that, we should all be very proud! Want to get engaged? Here’s how!
