Another great accomplishment and opportunity to celebrate!

Over the last couple of years, Erie Together has been facilitating the County Level Workforce Development Team (CLWDT) to support “out of school youth” (aged 18-24) with training and connect them with employment opportunities. We’ve focused on hard-to-fill, entry-level occupations in the healthcare arena, starting with the nurse aide position. Nurse aides are in high demand locally, and this career can also be a path to advance into other medical-related professions with additional education and training.

We are excited to announce we’re beginning to recruit our first cohort of students! To see the flyer with details and contact information, click here. The training is being provided by HVA Senior Living Alliance, and will take place over 18 class days (120 hours). For students meeting certain eligibility requirements, there will be no cost for the training, and we’ve even lined up local employers who’ve agreed to interview successful completers!

Special thanks to these County Level Workforce Development Team members who worked hard over the last two years to get this project off the ground: Preferred Systems, Inc., Northwest PA CareerLink®, NWPA Job Connect, Northern PA Regional College, Corry Higher Education Council, Resource and Governance Consulting, Erie High School, Penn State Behrend, and Edinboro University. Representatives from Industrial Sales & Manufacturing, the Erie Regional Chamber and Team Hardinger were also engaged at the early stages as we were thinking through this opportunity.
